The "Reality" of PR!

So, I'm sure all you beans have been looking into the new and up-coming trends in PR. Well, within the past few weeks we have a surge of new reality television shows following the lives of very well known PR practitioners in the business, one in fashion and the other in publicity.

First up is Kelly Cutrone's new show on Bravo, "Kell on Earth". A very fitting name considering her demeanor on the show. Kelly is a real go getter and doesn't take any BS in or out of her office. In the show they do a very good job of portraying her as both a balls busting boss and caring mother. A good mix of tough and soft, I believe this formula makes her out to be a great character that will keep viewers wanting more.

I personally find this show to be very good, from the fashion week meltdowns to the many many designers that grace the screen. "Kell on Earth" is what reality tv is made of and does the job very well! And they also take out the glitz and glamour of the industry, and showing what the business is all about. So the next time you want to know the happenings in the office of People's Revolution, hop on over to Bravo every Monday night @ 10/9c!

Now we come to the "other" PR reality show. "The Spindustry", aired today and I found it very hard to watch. It wasn't a very good depiction of PR in any form.

First, you have the overtly glamorous interns and the president and vice-president of the company seem to do nothing but delegate to the girls. The show seems to focus a lot on the very ritzy side of PR and not the hard work it takes. Many scenes show the main characters driving in a very expensive car and shopping for expensive real estate also. I will probably not be tuning into this show as much as "Kell in Earth" because, I feel one is much more "real" than the other.

The Spindustry airs on E! network on Sundays @ 10:30 pm

Happy viewing Beans!!!
