The mission of the GO FOR IT! Institute is to provide students and those who support them with the “how-to” tools for achieving success…thereby empowering them to develop life-long, healthy self-confidence and realize their potential! 
In issues of well-being, we have come to understand there is nothing more powerful than PREVENTION. This paradigm shift in how we address physical health and wellness is what is needed in guiding and educating our children today. We must provide educators, families and children with the knowledge required to develop life-long, healthy self-confidence which then allows an individual to define success for themselves and become responsible and proactive in achieving that success.
Internship Overview:
It is an exciting time at GO FOR IT! and the potential for significant organizational expansion exist.  We are looking for a creative, young, detail oriented person who is excited about being on the ground floor of the growth of this young non-profit.  There is a deep commitment by the GO FOR IT! Institute to make sure that the intern feels valued and learns skills that will help them in whatever endeavor he or she commits to next.

Part 1:  GO FOR IT! is in the process of creating a brand new curriculum for our school aged programs.  Assistance is needed in the creation of the new materials as well as the book layout and format.
Part 2:GO FOR IT! will be launching a national book release campaign for our new Family GO FOR IT! book in January of 2011.  We will be needing significant help for this national product launch. 

Intern Job Description:
  • Work one-on-one with the GO FOR IT! Director of Community Outreach and Support
  • Work closely with Traction Communications, our PR firm
  • Assist with writing news releases and creating pitch ideas for local and national news media exposure
  • Be the point person for work on our Facebook and Tweeter pages
  • Help with the development of new student materials for 2010-11 school year
  • Assist with daily office activities, ie: answering the phones, printing, copying, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Professional, responsible approach to this internship opportunity (Stipend may exist but is not guaranteed)
  • Demonstrate strong desire, willingness and enthusiasm for professional learning experiences
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Committed to working 5-10 hours a week
·         Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
·         Familiarity with Social Media Outlets
·         Working with kids and previous educational experience is a bonus
