Goodwill Internship for the Spring in the Springs (Colorado Springs that is)!

Have you ever wanted to work with a national brand!? Well, here is your chance! Goodwill Industries of Colorado Springs is looking for a Communications intern! OBJECTIVE:
To gain first-hand experience communicating a leading local nonprofit’s messages to multiple audiences through, but not limited to, writing, social media, advertising, presentations and event planning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: College student enrolled in an accredited communications program in good academic standing.

The Communications Intern must have strong social media experience.  The incumbent should be comfortable working with individuals with disabilities, media representatives, executive level staff, etc.  The incumbent must have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and follow through, excellent spelling and grammar skills, writing style, editing skills and creativeness.  The incumbent must be dependable, honest and have a desire to help others.  Finally, the individual should have a valid driver’s license and vehicle available for occasional errands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
                                   
Project Support
The Communications Intern will assist the Communications Department with the following tasks: 

The intern will enhance the organization’s social media presence while also increasing the organization’s online presence through the website. Researching, writing and proofreading articles for newsletters, annual report, website, press releases, social media and other publications/mediums will also be performed.  The incumbent will utilize the department’s media tools to create photo galleries and videos of timely events.  In addition, the intern will maximize the department’s Vocus software to its full potential.  The intern will complete updates to the Crisis Communications Plan and coordinate models and logistics for media appearances.  The individual will also assist in planning events such as the annual dinner, An Enchanted Evening, donor receptions, open houses, etc.   As time and need permit, the individual will complete research as it pertains to communications efforts.  The intern may also create and maintain relationships with vendors.  The incumbent may be requested to evaluate the organization’s retail operation and its mission services programs and share ideas to enhance communication between the two.  Administrative duties as needed will also be performed.
