Position Purpose- Communications Interns are assigned a variety of projects to further their understanding of the communications field and to assist the department in valuable work. Communications Intern will learn multiple forms of communication work as part of a departmental team.
- Intern will assist team in researching and developing news releases and other media materials; proof media and collateral, including calendar listings; copy and archive media clips; assist in the planning, implementation and also attend special events; attend communication team meetings; and provide administrative assistance. Much of the work will support major events and exhibitions including Untitled, Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs and Charles Deas and 1840s America. This internship includes a special project on researching and developing media lists.
· Interns commit to 15-20 hours a week for the fall semester, scheduling is flexible.
Education or Formal TrainingCurrently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program in Journalism, Communications or English academic studies. Must have a strong interest in public relations and communications coursework, electronic and social media, as well as excellent written and verbal skills.
Candidates are encourages to have and communicate in correspondence a strong idea of what they would like to learn from their internship experience.
Additional Information This is a part-time internship for academic credit, and includes great perks but no financial compensation.
